In this short short clip called "I Am Def Jam" the 19-year old Brooklyn, New York native reflects on getting shot, always having the desire to create art that would entertain people, making his parents proud and wanting to give back to the community by showing that there are positive ways to make it out of the hood.
"I was definitely around trouble with what I was doing before music," he says. "I was in the wrong places. I was in the wrong timing. I got hit, got shot. Until I just came down and was like, I can't sell no drugs. I sell music. Music definitely saved me."
